Research and Planning - True Blood Opening Credits

True Blood is about 'Eric Northman' the vampire/serial killer, he has good boy movements, he's a calm man especially when it revealed to the audience that he has a love interest. The audience automatically start to like him because he's a soft hearted gentleman. But underneath the sweet man is a cold hearted serial killer with fangs and back hair. This relates perfectly to our production because the serial killer has a girlfriend he's a normal individual who is liked by the audience. Very similar to 'True blood' our serial killer is a male as well, so is relates very well. True blood is an American based TV Crime drama with mysteries and thriller moments, which is some of the narratives we will be presenting to our audience. The audience for this show is both male and female. Female's because of the love interest, it shows a sensitive side and males because of the manly and crime side.

Camera-work
Long-shots are used when the opening of the show begins, this shows a distance of the trees, the long grass and the weather atmosphere.Throughout the opening, the houses are showed from a distance and so is everything that comes along the journey.

Editing
The camera starts of slow paced when the grass and trees are being showed, and then it gradually goes faster and faster to when the sun sets and rises, the slow motion of the snake shows mystery and thriller narratives. The dark setting shows the thriller side to the programme, which gets the audience involved and intrigued.

Sound
The sound fits perfectly with the opening credits, the mysterious music creates a mysterious atmosphere. The music is digetic sound and stays the same throughout the whole opening credits. The sounds creates tension and gives the audience an awkward feel. The music relates well to the vampires good and bad character.

Mise-en-scene
This American based show is set in a small town Northwest of Louisiana. In the opening credits the small town is showed throughout, during the credits we as the audience get to see the different. We see many dangerous animal's throughout the opening credits, firstly we see a snake, this highlights the programme to the audience as snakes are usually associated with a person with 2 characters, a good and a bad, this is aimed at the vampire who is presented as a soft-hearted gentleman but a cold serial killer. We see characters dressed in white, firstly the black women singing and secondly the child dressed in a white robe, this connotes purity.
