Research and Planning - 5 clips relating to our pitch.

Our idea relates to Dexter (Crime Drama) in a very similar way, this show is about a 'noble' serial killer, Dexter who is the main character kills those who do wrong. Our production is very similar as we have also based out 2 minute film on a serial killer. We have based our production on a series of events that all link to murder and mystery. We have decided our opening 2 minutes of the film will be similar to the opening title of Dexter, we will have the Serial killer which is (Vinesh) carry out murder's in very different ways. The types of shots we are interested in using are close-ups to enable what is going on in depth. The genre we have based our film on is thriller which is similar to Dexter. The target audience for our show is 15-35 both male and female as our characters are 2 males, 1 serial killer which is a male, 1 of the 3 targets which is a male, and then 2 female targets. Similar to Dexter we want to introduce our character as being very creepy and unusual. Dexter is similar to our idea however we have planner that the Serial killer doesn't kill the bad but kills the good as well.

Camerawork:
In the opening of Dexter the shots used are quiet broad, they use shots such as close-ups, focus, non-focus. In the opening titles bright lighting is not used to show a thriller side to the show. When shooting outside the camera f23 has been used to enlighten high-contrast situations. In Dexter there is a lot of close-up's to show certain shots to audiences which have been zoomed in x3.

Editing
The first few scenes are done in a quick pace to show the audience what Dexter is all about, the fast pace of the opening scene also enables the type of show it is, its a thriller, there will be police, crime and violence. By the opening scene the audience automatically picture what sort of scenes they will be watching and what to expect. The way he kills the spider on his arm is done quickly, this also enables the quick based production. The way the egg runs is done very cleverly because it automatically becomes blood and something that can be sliced.

Sound
The sounds that are used are non-digetic, the music is not part of the show, the sound used in the opening titles is mood sounds. The music stays the same throughout the opening titles but when sharp objects are shown the music gets more higher pitched to conquer the importance of the knife.

Mise-en-scene
The opening credits are shot in the characters house, this is obvious by when he is in the kitchen frying food. Macro shots are used to closen up the things he does such as shaving or the spider in the beginning. The house is not mainly focused on as much as the things he does is more focused on.

Audience
Dexter is broadcast after water-shed, that is 9:00pm onwards, the target audience for Dexter is 18-35.
