Ill Manors Review.

Ill Manors Review.

Ill Manors is directed by Ben Drew who is known by the name of Plan B. It is believed to be his second film he has directed but the first to receive success. This movie was a low budget film.
The cast and crew in the film are Riz Ahmed, Ed Skrein, Natalie Press, Ben Drew (the director himself), Nick Sagar and many others. The characters in the movie are not big Hollywood stars but have come in movies before, if the movie was being watched my Main-streamers it would be hard for them to recognise these characters. Big stars were not used in the movie to make it look realistic and more urban. Riz Ahmed who played the role as Aaron has been in another successful movie Three Lions and also Trishna.
The storyline consists of drug and alcohol use, misuse of women and violence. There are 4 characters who consume a lot of drugs and when it becomes to hard to gain drugs they turn to prostitutes to make money for them as women in that field are very vulnerable. It shows how prostitutes struggle with controlling men and have to deal with the consequences later in life. It is revealed that most of these drug users and prostitutes are from broken family backgrounds and have been bought up in care homes where they did not get proper teachings of what is socially expectable and what is not. Nick Sagar is a young adult who we see hangs around in gangs and gets young teenagers involved in gang crime and violence to make him a part of him.
The mood of the film is depressing and very uncomfortable for the people watching, it makes the audience feel disturbed. This is because of the disturbing things that take place in the film such as gun crime and young teenagers being forced to be involved in bullying. There's always tension in the film and there is no happy situations. The genre of the film is Urban Crime Drama.
The audience of the film is 18-27 year old, I have based this on the characters ages that act in the film. These ages are those who are involved in misuse of drugs, crime and violence. The use of bad language and sex also covers this age range. This film is to educate those involved in such things on how bad the after affects are and how it can ruin your life.
The music used throughout is by the director himself Plan B, the music is mainly rap and tells the stories of the characters through his voice-over. The genre of music that was used was grime music which is a sub-culture of hip-hop.
